We would like to thank the health providers from USM School of Nursing for hosting the Health Clinic each year. This year these volunteers will conduct free blood pressure checks, glucose screening, cholesterol screening. A limited amount of Tdap (tetanus, diphtheria and pertussis) vaccine may be available for a $10.00 donation (or free if a person is unable to pay). Health information will be provided to attendees. These services will be available on Thursday (10-4), Friday (9-4), and Saturday (9-2).
Skin Cancer Screening and Hearing Tests (pending confirmation)
Also, again this year, we welcome back Dr. Jensen from Maine Dermatology who will be conducting free skin cancer screening on Friday (9-2) and Saturday (9-2). Also, Audiologists sponsored by the Fishing Partnership who will give free hearing tests on Friday (9-4) and Saturday (9 to 3).
Hands-on Survival Training
The Coast Guard’s Commercial Fishing Vessel Safety Program will provide water safety training on Friday and Saturday mornings for adults and kids. It is held from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. in the Samoset Pool each day.
They will provide life raft and immersion suit training training as well as instruction on water survival techniques and free inspections of immersion suits. Attendees are allowed to either bring their own suit or try one of the Coast Guard’s in the heated pool. “This training has saved lives – when was the last time you practiced?”
Red Cross Training
This year the Red Cross will offer First Aid Training (morning) and CPR/AED Training (afternoon) for $63.00 each course on Thursday, March 2nd. For more information and to register please go to Red Cross Training.
