Book Scholarships

We provide book scholarships to students of families who work in the Maine fisheries

100% of the proceeds from our Thursday night silent auction and Friday night live auction are given out to kids from Maine seafood families – and that is an unusual event in today’s tight economy!  Anything that you might be able to donate would be greatly appreciated – especially by the kids who, with our hope and blessings, will do Maine and its citizens proud in their future endeavors.

The Maine Fishermen’s Forum Book Scholarship Fund was established for the benefit of immediate family members (son, daughter, grandson, granddaughter) of anyone actively participating in Maine’s seafood industry.  Undergraduates attending a two or four year college who are in at least their second year of their program are eligible for book scholarships of at least $1,000.00. Donations to the book scholarship fund are always welcome, and are tax deductible since the Maine Fishermen’s Forum is a non-profit organization.

The Maine Fishermen’s Forum Board of Directors is pleased to announce the winners of the 2017 Forum Book Scholarship Awards.

The next drawing for this book scholarship will be held on Saturday, March 3, 2018  at the Samoset Resort in Rockport during the 43rd annual Maine Fishermen’s Forum.  Applications are available for downloading or by sending a SASE to Maine Fishermen’s Forum, PO Box 288, Bath, ME  04530.  The deadline date for submission is March 1, 2018.

“I am so grateful to be a recipient of one of the Maine Fishermen’s Forum Scholarship Book Awards.  Every little bit helps me in furthering my education, and the generous amount I received from the Forum will not go to waste.  I will never forget my Maine fishing roots and the fishing community that has helped me get where I am today.  Again; THANK YOU!!!”

“Thank you so much for selecting me as a recipient of a Scholarship Book Award!!  This educational support really makes a difference for my family and I, and is particularly special given my father’s deep connection and dedication to commercial fishing.  Your award will enable me to focus more on my academics, and research, and less on financial concerns.  Thank you!”

Jasmine from Southport, MaineScholarship Recipient

“Thank you for the generous scholarship.  It will be used toward my mechanical engineering tuition at Cedarville University.  Thank you again.”
